Linda Nakagawa to Conduct Workshop
On Saturday and Sunday, January 31 - February 1, 2009, guest clinician Linda Nakagawa from Sacramento, California will conduct masterclasses for our students in the Hagberg Studio. Linda teaches all over the United States and in Singapore. She travels often to Japan for her own study and is the director of the Suzuki Piano Basics International 10-Piano Concert in Sacramento, held every two years.
In addition to student lessons during the day, Linda will conduct a Question/Answer session for parents from 5:45-6:30 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a potluck supper for teachers and parents. All parents and their adult guests are welcome to attend this event whether or not your child is enrolled in the workshop. Please sign up in the studio.
Congratulations, Nick!
High school senior Nicholas Berkner, student of Karen Hagberg, has been named a winner in the 2009 Howard Hanson Competition. He will perform at the Winners Recital on Sunday, March 15, 7:30 p.m. in Wilmot Hall at Nazareth College. All are invited to attend.
The Howard Hanson Competition is a program of the Rochester Piano Guild for high school seniors. Winners are selected to perform in recital to recognize their achievement and their commitment to piano study until the end of twelfth grade. Attending this event will serve to motivate younger students (and parents too!).
Graduating Seniors to Present Recital
The graduating seniors in the Hagberg studio, Nick Berkner and Evan DeVitto, will be featured in the Suzuki Piano Basics of Rochester Senior Recital, to be held at Denton's Piano Store in the Piano Works Mall in East Rochester on Sunday, May 3 at 1:30 p.m. The graduates will perform and hand down their legacy to the youngest students in our program with speeches and gifts. Please all attend this important event in the life of our studio.
Sacramento Suzuki Piano Basics International 10-Piano Concert
The bi-annual 10-Piano Concert in Sacramento will be held this year on Saturday, August 15. Teachers and students from Japan and from around the United States will participate. Karen Hagberg will attend rehearsals, beginning on July 31, with student Nicholas Berkner, who will perform in the concert. Nicholas has been chosen to perform the last, and most challenging, piece in the program. Congratulations, Nick!
